How do you feel about the policy? …

Retired Army Gen. John Shalikashvili opposed openly gay men and women in the military when he was head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but now he believes they should be allowed to serve. Shalikashvili said he expects fierce debate over gays in the military this year as Congress considers President Bush’s call for expanding the size of the Army, which is stretched thin by wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

How do you feel about the policy?

I think we need to step it up when it comes to our social awareness. Like, what makes this nation the most powerful? Money and weapons, that’s it. Other nations have free healthcare, free education, gays can get married, all sorts of exceptional policies that America is too afraid to introduce. In England gays are not only allowed to openly fight in their military, but when they marry they are allowed to wear their uniforms. That’s awesome! It would be great if the policy is enforced because it would wake up the naysayers and progress a lot of the other things we need done.

This country is so screwed when it comes to sexuality. On the surface they pretend to be so pure yet they are fucking sheep and their own kids and say shhhh(don’t tell anyone) when doing it. What does fighting in a war have to do with one’s sexuality? Nothing. There is no relation btwn the two. Well, since they are getting short on minorities fighting in the war…they may as well let gays in now. Kill some them off.

Foolish the war needs to come to an end period. This is not about the people of Iraq but more about the oil of Iraq. “Until the philosophy that holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently, discredited, and abandoned then everywhere is WAR!”

Now on that note I would have to agree.

I’m a veteran and I know the policy is just garbage. It’s like separate but equal….garbage! I do like the point that citrine makes though, all you have to do is watch “Dateline to catch a predator” to know that this country is full of sick idiots who will vote against us getting married, leave the polls and go trolling for innocent children to bang…….disgusting….

I am a disabled Gulf War Veteran and proud that I served and saw many things that men could not endure. Sadly, African American LGTB Veterans are ignored by the LGTB African American community and it is hard to find support…only if we are on active duty. Now that is the shame; however there is a lot of support in the white LGTB community. Does anyone find something wrong with this picture?

Too many of the politicians today are now so caught up within their own evil situations of comments and actions are only oblivious to themselves. Everyone! knows they all have read the essay entitled “the Bigger Picture” the classification of Gays and Lesbians have been part of all and every armed forces since the beginning. Making an issue of the Military welcoming Gays and Lesbians to fight for money and OIL amongst other things or situations it’s all a Farse. Atleast the Gay and Lesbian would not lie to fight in a War for patriotism but they expect for people to want to fight for a LIE…It’s good to see their true colors shining through. That is the “Bigger Picture or the Pelican Brief” or what ever you choose to call it.
